Choosing Friends

“You can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends” (choosing family will be the subject of a later post).

What are friends ? People with whom we communicate and with whom we spend time. Why would we do that ? If we spent our time alone, would we be lonely ? Some friends are wonderful and uplift us, others can drain us (like energy vampires) – so why do we hang out with the latter ? Is it out of sympathy for them ? Or because we are too weak to admit to ourselves that these friends are inappropriate for us ? Does our Ego perhaps seek as many friends as possible in order to look impressive ? How many “friends” do you have on Facebook ? Or in real life ?

We tend to become like the people that we surround ourselves with – so take care who you associate with !
